It was told that Seoul would get its first day of snow on a day on November, but Jeju was ever so clear. It was not only clear but also warm. I realize yet again that I am on the southernmost island of Korea which barely ever drops down to negative degree Celsius all year.

So I climbed Hallasan, to see the snow. On the Baekrokdam, freshly fallen snow untouched by anybody can be seen on a clear day like this. I can practically hear the mountain calling me to come see the snow. This was my third hike to Hallasan in my entire life and my second trip since I moved to Jeju. My last hike was only two months ago so it must be no pressure climbing this hill in the hood, right? Ok, maybe a little bit of pressure.

But from this trip, I became a little bit weary of climbing Hallasan, to know more, let us check out this video and see why.

I lightheartedly thought, "well in Rome," and decided to hike to Baekrokdam. Plus, my desire to see snow in Jeju pushed me harder. I just love snow. Even during my plowing operation during my military service, I didn't mind it the hard work or the cold weather. Well, the cold never bothered me anyway. And the carpet of snow was not an easy thing to see in the city where I am from.

But so little did I know.

We decided to take the Seongpanak Trail which supposedly has the most gradual ascend. But with a little bit of drinking last night, I wasn't feeling well in my stomach from even before the hike. Was that the sign? But I can't understand why my body always demands to go drinking the night before the hike. To make things worse, the small shop inside the shelter area was closed due to their strike. I really wanted that cup of noodles at the shelter. I know eating cup noodles at the summit of snow-covered Mt. Jungfrau in Switzerland, but it essentially is the same thing if you eat some here in this shelter. Anyway, I'm a little disappointed. But we decided to make the quick hike and go eat somewhere else, with no preparation but with just a little bit of snacks and water. To Baekrokdam sitting on 1950m (6400ft) above the sea level.

The beginning of the trail was very pleasant and ascend surely was gradual. From my last experience on Yeongsil Trail, this was too easy.
